Oregon Health Insurance FAQ

Answers to common questions about Marketplace coverage, enrollment, financial help, and working with an agent.

Does it cost anything to work with you?

There is no additional fee charged to you for Marketplace enrollment assistance from a licensed agent. Agents are compensated through carrier arrangements. Ask about compensation if you want details for a particular product.

Can I enroll without an agent?

Yes. Oregon's official Marketplace, Explore Health, allows consumers to research eligibility and enroll directly. An agent is optional.

Do I have to wait for Open Enrollment?

Not necessarily. A qualifying life event may create a Special Enrollment Period. OHP and some other programs have different enrollment rules.

What should I gather before we talk?

Helpful information includes household members, expected income, current coverage, doctors, hospitals, prescriptions, and your preferred budget. If you don't have everything, we can identify what is missing.

What is changing for 2027?

Oregon is moving to Explore Health, its state-based Marketplace, beginning November 1, 2026. 2027 Open Enrollment runs through January 15, 2027.
